A selection of Christopher Köller’s distinctive photographic works from his highly-regarded series, Parádeisos, is being presented by the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) as their 2012 Limited Edition Print fundraiser. The special viewing, which opens at CCP on Friday 20th July and runs through until Sunday 22nd July will provide a delightful glimpse into a range of earthly paradises. The photographs taken between 1997 and 2009 capture some of the most prized gardens across the world—ironically through the use of a plastic $7 Diana camera—ensuring the unpredictable is captured. Striving for neither the ideal nor the tourist view—Köller’s vantage point is one that is unexpectedly beautiful and unusual. The pleasure and beauty of these highly crafted gardens filtered through Köller’s use of the Diana produces charming, dream-like and unexpected eects. It’s Köller’s mantra that all gardens, no matter how small or mundane, at the right moment, have the potential to transport us beyond the banality of the everyday. And he sure does!
