The Wit of David Carter
Paisley gold mosaics, melting chandeliers, plumage, frescos, OH MY! As a self-confessed frustrated minimalist, it’s little wonder I am drawn to the interiors of David Carter, the London-based maestro responsible for some of the most interesting designs of the past decade. Carter works around a philosophy of creating spaces that produce emotions and speak to those who enter within its realm. With an enduring commitment to maintaining the highest quality, his interiors are defined by their individuality, glamour and, as he puts it, wit. They, quite literally, create a set for which his clients can live their lives in. Self-categorised in ‘Light’ and ‘Dark’, his designs are a feast for the eyes, with sumptuous materials, objet d’art and curios being the norm. And, like all the best theatrical sets, you never quite know what you are going to get when the curtain goes up on a David Carter interior.
