Medhurst Winery
Medhurst Winery cuts a plane through the Yarra Valley. Medhurst Winery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley is the first project completed by emerging studio Folk Architects. They were initially reluctant to build on the north facing slope as they felt the scale and may be inappropriate to the site surroundings. Their solution was to insert the building into the hill to reduce the visual impact of the winery. The materials selection is simple and restrained with little pops of colour. For me it’s all about the successful connection the building has with the land, rising from the earth…. yep total love for Folk Architecture!
