With mélange of different people from all parts of the world, Los Angeles sets the standard for cultural cross-pollination. From this comes Commune Design, formed in 2004, the design practice approaches each project in a holistic way and brings to the table the varied and proficient skills from their in-house architects, interior and graphic designers. Their style, as a result, is a reflection of the clients they design for. Never a distinctive “Commune” design, their interiors range from the textural and eclectic to the polished and luxe. Within their portfolio raw timbers sit happily next to stainless steel, classic forms next to contemporary shapes, and every so often that classic Californian mid-century grace appears. Sun-drenched and laid back, Commune is Californian dreaming at its best.
