Wax on. Wax off.
It’s a simple thing. You go in, get waxed, and leave. No need for fanfare. The less attention brought to the matter the better, right? WRONG. That is if you are going to Wax Revolution by ROW Studio, of course. The simple art of epilation has been turned into a rainbow wonderland in the tiny and narrow space the Wax Revolution branch occupies. A black metal structure frames and gives rise what would otherwise be an almost invisible entrance from the street. Once inside, customers are greeted with an electric blue and black desk where mirrors and geometry are used to distort the customer’s sense of spatiality. Past the desk, an epoxy-resin floor of green, yellow and pink guides customers past a “brow bar” and onto their colour-coded waxing cabin and it is here the fun begins. The walls of each cabin are multi-faceted and mirrored to give the narrow space a greater sense of volume. Inside the cabins, all finishes are in the same colour as the cabins façade, and all cabins have different inside geometry to further enhance the client’s experience each time they visit. So you see, the simple and private task of getting a wax has been turned into a technicolor visual experience and ROW Studio has certainly shown their character in this incredible little project.
