a 1940’s duplex… Greg Natale, Jonathan Adler, Paris + Versailles
In June this year one of Australia’s most celebrated interior designers Greg Natale gave us a sneak peak at a project we dubbed “unfinished symphony” which was a work in progress. Once a 1940’s duplex in Sydney’s prized eastern suburbs with a residence on each floor, the building was totally stripped and gutted transitioning into a grand single dwelling. Designed to accommodate a young family with 2 children the client brief was to inject a French flavour. Underpinned by a black and white colour scheme adding classic details, like tri panelled doors, wall panelling and checker board floors inspired from Greg’s trips to Paris and Versailles. The client wanted the house to have an edge so Greg infused Jonathan Adler lighting and furniture through out the house. A major undertaking on the project was creating the double height walls by digging down in the formal lounge, the result being well worth it creating a sense of luxury and space. Bespoke kitchen joinery and rugs designed by Greg Natale add the extra layers that make the project… well … very Greg Natale. Love it!

A wonderful combined effort from the builder and the designer – looks great.
I agree Bruce, it’s such a brilliant outcome.
