Fingal … Coastal Victoria

Located just around the corner from me on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula in Fingal is a house that pays homage to the farms that once occupied the land in Fingal. Once a farming district most of Fingal is now zoned for residential and is popular with holiday makers playing a round of golf or soaking in the local hot springs.
This project by Melbourne studio JAM Architects hits all the right elements for a coastal property on Victoria’s rugged coast, with its robust appearance rich in reclaimed timber the home belongs to the land ready to relax or take on the harsh weather. The interior is kept simple and warm, with stark white walls and matt finished timber cladding and joinery. Public spaces are relegated to the lower level, while bedrooms are elevated on the second floor and have sprawling views of the hills and cliffs. The pool is a standout cleverly following Australian standards by elevating the pool to do away with a full pool fence!
