This project designed by New York-based practice Robert Young was once a single doweling originally from the 1980’s. The outdated structure was injected with bands of glazing, increasing the visual connection between the occupants and woods beyond and filling the home with dappled sunlight throughout. The rectangular cedar clad volumes are set at various heights as if to take its cue from the various tree heights that surround the dwelling. The foyer opens to a double height space connecting to the living spaces and bedrooms, the open stair risers once again promote translucently allowing light to pass through whist offering vistas to the surrounding forest. Simple cubist design sitting quietly in the woods ….. perfect.
