Australian coastal style …. taking it outside.
Although this project by Sydney based Fergus Scott Architects isn’t their latest work, it is most certainly one of my favorites. Located on the brow of a hill, the sweeping lines of the roof and the buildings silhouette provides a powerful aesthetic. Clad in rusted metal, like a ship nestled on a dune the house follows the natural contour of the coastal landscape at a 270 degree angle. The walls, decks and central courtyard provide shade and shelter in summer also providing all year round outdoor living. Every room from living, bedrooms and utilities opens and connects with terrain and outdoor living spaces. The industrial materials pallet is spot on and works perfectly with the Australian coastal landscape.
