The light box

After living in Sydney for many years I saw first hand the challenges of filtering natural light into terrace houses which are often long, dark and narrow dwellings.  A small single storey terrace house designed by Melbourne (Australia) based studio Edwards Moore is dwarfed by the surrounding urban fabric. The aim was to increase the quality and scale of the living spaces within, improving the sense of aspect/outlook and access to natural light, whilst maintaining a private and comforting oasis.The new second floor is wrapped in a translucent skin which floods the space with natural light, and strategically placed openings create a central internal landscape. I just love this house!
