Parisian Jewel
The ability to combine careful consideration and respect to an interior’s original architecture with a fresh and modern vision is a skill not held by many – Laurent Champeau and Kelli Wilde are one such pair that possess this ability. Their recent project in Paris is testament to a commitment to retain the apartment’s original character such as the parquet flooring and ornate detailing while bringing in expertly edited furniture and art to create a home for their clients that is as much about the history of the place as it is about the people who live there.Moving through the apartment is like moving through the ages with the architectural details and furniture at times blurring the lines between different decorative styles. Champeau and Wilde confidently use a muted and at times stark palate, which they punctuate with bold statement pieces such as the velvet and gold leaf daybed in the salon or the dramatic Anselm Reyle artwork in the entry hall. Being a practicing interior designer I am always looking for inspiration and new ways to rethink a space and this little Parisian jewel certainly does just that!
