The nature of the subdivided warehouse …

Quite often the essence of the warehouse is lost when converting and industrial building into a home with many developers pushing it too far creating overly domesticated spaces.   This three level conversion by Melbourne Australia based studio Techne aims to promote the open nature of the subdivided warehouse space. The new architectural components attempt to recede within the shell and the subdued palate was chosen to highlight the original elements of the building, including steel windows, structure, staircases and trusses which is does so well.  The use of partitions has been kept to a minimum to promote connection and interaction as well as allow daylight and airflow to stream throughout the open living areas. The mix of impeccable timber floors and polished concrete provide a perfect anchor warming the softening the space. Monochromatic heaven !
