Pop-Up House
When I think of Aix-en-Provence I picture century old farmhouses and cobble stone laneways, so when I saw this new house it certainly stood out. More astounding still is the fact it was put together in only four days and the only tool used was a cordless drill.
Multipod Studio, the firm behind the project, created the design from a need to give people access to affordable housing that passively works toward minimizing the occupant’s dependency on energy for heating. The result was a pop-up house made from connecting insulation panels and timber.
Far from being an eco-hut in the woods, this house is a beautifully proportioned and incredibly chic house that delivers as much design credibility as it does environmental. What impresses me more however is how naturally the house sits in its environment. Given its green credentials, ease of construction and effortless style I think this pop-up house can hold its own against any neighbouring chateaux.
