as homely as bread
There is no doubt that everyone loves the smell of fresh baking bread but imagine staying in a hotel where this smell wafts through the foyer and hallways everyday! At Praktik Hotel located in the Eixample district of Spain’s second largest city, this is exactly what you will get.
Designed by 2013 designer of the year, Lazaro Rosa Violan, the 74 room boutique hotel showcases an amazing working bakery in its foyer becoming the heart and soul of the hotel.
“Praktik Bakery is that different hotel, out of the ordinary, so we have introduced something as homely as bread within the hotel so that our guests feel at home,” said Anna Bellsolá, proprietor of Baluard Barcelona, the traditional bakery that has been integrated into the hotel.
A simple base palette of whites and blacks set the mood, while an overlay of textures and finishes add the warmth. Bare concrete floors meet beautiful herringbone timber and decorative tiles help to break up the floor plan. White ceramic tiles married with light timbers and black metal work add a hint of sophistication. If you love fresh bread and you need a holiday, maybe it’s time to book a flight!
