A Modern Country Life

Building a country barn could be fraught with gimmickry danger… I’m thinking gingham and deer heads (the horror!). What a lovely surprise it is then to see this wonderfully fresh and modern take on a country barn.

The team at Hutker Architects designed this sympathetic approach to the barn for an active family so ensured that the house was as user friendly and liveable as it was beautiful and though the house is a new build the use of reclaimed and recycled materials means there is connection to the traditions of traditional farm buildings. These materials are juxtaposed with a mix of Scadinavian minimalist furniture and bespoke joinery with the effect that the everything has context and nothing seems out of place.

Perhaps my favourite feature of this project is the large exspanses of glass throughout… I could think of nothing better than spending an afternoon on one of those sofas watching the cows graze away.
