A London Family Home
There are interior designers and then there is Michael S. Smith. He is a true captain of the industry having served as the White House designer since 2008 and regularly appearing on Architectural Digest’s AD100 list. In this latest project, Smith turns his hand to a grand Kensington mansion deep in London. The proportions of this house alone are enviable, but together with the incredible interior he created, Smith has delivered a home that perfectly meets the client’s brief of creating a comfortable family home that can also be used for entertaining on an intimate scale.
Each room is as brave as it is chic: metallic wallpaper for the study, red lacquer of the dressing room joinery and my current personal fave, monochromatic scenic wallpaper for the master bedroom. Notwithstanding all the glamorous elements throughout, the house still radiates a refined and relaxed air and despite its grandeur is still very approachable.
Given the choice between Michael S. Smith designed homes, I’d take this pile over the White House any day!
