Best Things. Small Packages

Sometimes I like the grand, sometimes the humble. This week is a humble week. The thought of escaping to this tiny little cabin on a canal would be a dream. Design to perform the most basic necessities of a home, the cabin is clad in black timber on two sides and the roof, while at either end the wall are completely window giving the cabin an immediate connection to the surround countryside.

Cleverly, the designers have made part of the wall in the living area retractable so that in the warmer months half the cabin becomes an outdoor area… you could literally take two steps from the sofa and dive right into the canal.

Built as it is on the en of the five and one hundred metre long island, cabin takes  as much of an isolated feeling as it does a connected feeling to the surrounding environment. Even in winter the dwelling has a special character and with neat hanging fireplace I’m sure the home would be the perfect refuge from the icy winds beyond.
