Matthieu Paley Nomadic Portraits
Matthieu’s photographs often explore themes of remoteness and isolation in Geo-politically sensitive areas. After 10 years of using Hong Kong as his base, he recently relocated in Turkey. Over the last 12 years, Matthieu was sent on assignments by various magazines such as National Geographic, Geo, Newsweek, Time, Outside, Discovery, Vanity Fair and Figaro among others.
He has collaborated on numerous books including a book on Siberia, “Serko” and a monograph on Mongolia titled “Open Horizon”. In summer 2011 he went on a month long trip across the US, on a commissioned book project about Nomadic America titled “Following Jack Kerouac – Portraits of Nomadic America”. His last book, “Pamir, Forgotten on the roof of the World”, his longest book project, was started 12 years ago on a high mountain pass on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
