Island Magic

To some people eclecticism might seem like a bad thing – an ugly hodge podge of things thrown together without reason. In the case of María Lladó however, eclecticism is perfect and this home on the Spanish island of Menorca is proof of that and given the history of how this project came to be it’s little wonder the interiors are so eclectic.

This is Lladó’s own holiday home that she bought with a few friends with the view that they could come here to unwind, relax and be at ease with their families. This meant that nothing in the house could be expensive…. Literally everything came from local markets or second hand stores and though there exists a great disparity between all of the furniture Lladó’s magic hand has ensured that the interior harmonious and has it’s own understated personality.

Given its location deep within the Citadel on this Spanish island famed for its azure seas and in an area that has been fought for and won by so many different civilizations it seems appropriate to me that this home should bring together so many different styles and periods and for it to be done with such ease and spirit.
