oasis of cool

Palm Springs… I could come up with superlatives to describe this oasis of cool all day. And while I am lucky to live in such a relaxed and sunny country I cannot deny that I would happily move to Palm Springs, especially if I lived in a stunning pile like this one recently completed by Studio AR+D Architects.

Designed for a family, this single level residence has been designed to take advantage of the warm desert sun with every room opening out on the expansive garden and pool. Architecturally, the house has been design with the strong horizontal and linear forms that Palm Springs is famed for. The interiors too have a nod to the area’s mid-century roots with timber panelling in the kitchen, bright pops of pattern and a furniture layout that is undeniably set up for entertaining.  It is not, however, kitsch in its approach with the design having a thoroughly modern air. To me, everything about this house says come in, have a G&T and  sit by the pool….talk about a lush life!
