Hollywood Loft
For California, indeed Hollywood no less, this apartment could be considered on the extreme subdued side with the concrete walls and muted colour palate looking more like Berlin than the sunny state. Slesinski Design Group responded to the program which called for the small two bedroom apartment to be made as versatile as possible and for the furnishing to blend with and add to the minimal materials palate.
For the bones, the exposed services and raw concrete walls and ceilings provide a canvas for the designers to layer on warmth and texture. The living room is made up of deep browns and creams that flow into the rich timber kitchen. This timber is carried through to the second bedroom that also serves as a study with a clever fold away bed. The apartment has a traditional moment in the bedroom with a four poster bed with natural linens anchoring the space. For Hollywood, a town where reality is generally never what it seems, I like that this apartment is different to the expected and has its own unique personality.
