Increased style … Darlinghurst terrace
Designed for a music producer there was no specific design brief for the newly renovated 19th Century terrace house located in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, it was more a dialogue that developed between interior designer Jason Mowen the architects Dale Jones Evans and the clients art collection which governed the direction of the interior.
Interior designer and Vogue Living Australia contributor, Mowen loves to work with antiques, vintage furniture and everything textural – tribal rugs and mats, old leather chairs, wicker pieces as well as custom pieces in mohair and wool. These pieces usually have so much more integrity than the mass-produced furniture of today providing history, heart and soul.
The expansive home is set across 4 floors with each space quite different to the next. As Mowen says, “The attic sitting room/study, for example, is light and bright and has a Northern European feel to it; the lower ground floor living/dining is rich and golden, and very moody. You could be in two completely different houses, or cities for that matter”. Sexy, playful, chic and very Darlo! This house is Everything !
