the chocolate bistro

Like a good chocolate, T.A Milano invites us to savour life’s finer moments. Synthesising the spirit of the artisan chocolate and brand it represents, one is compelled to appreciate the history, quality and emotion which embodies the design and the product.

Set on a corner block in Milan, the chocolate bistro is sensitive and responsive to the grandeur of the heritage building as well as brand with a dynamic and highly textural design. Designed by Vincenzo de Cotiis the composition of each of the elements relates to, yet provides a counterpoint for one another creating a environment which is refined and delicate, raw and moody, open and intimate.

Characteristic of his projects, Vicenzo de Cotiis’ origin in fashion and fashion retail design are apparent with the pure forms, varying and often surprising textures, as well as his signature ‘obsession’ with patinas. Yet each project is unique. The designer’s skill to deconstruct the tradition and identity of fine dining and reconstruct it with finesse, is demonstrated by the ease in which it is  recognisable as the ‘fine dining’ so many designs strive to yet do not achieve.

While there is a need for honourable, democratic mass-produced design, there is also a need for an individual, expressive and experimental designs.

What is not to love? TA combining my two passions – chocolate and design in a way that is individual and special.
