Marc Jacobs closed out New York Fashion Week. In a word, it has been hailed as extraordinary. Jacobs showed his extravaganza of fashion noir on a stark white set to the sound of single chimed notes by Japanese musician Keiji Haino. Darkness ruled, but with an underlying sweetness.
The ghostly girls in their giant garb (plus Lady Gaga) came stomping into the big white space on skyscraper platforms, eyes and lips outlined in black, shoulders swallowed up by oversize black sorority sweatshirts spotted with sparkling spider webs.
