Drawing room day dream
Up on the first floor of this West London house is the large and beautiful drawing room perfect to retire to with a cocktail with friends or a quiet moment with a good book. Rabih Hage kept to a neutral palette and created focal points here, focusing on repair and reinstating the original. Throughout the home Rabih has tweaked tradition however using unusual angles for parquet flooring, textured wall covering and selection of furniture.
Rabih has reorganised the space typologies to suit the family’s size and lifestyle – relocating the kitchen to the rear of the property for instance gave opportunity to stack services differently and the addition of a basement mean new leisure spaces were added also. The interiors maintain a classic, timeless feel – balances and considered.
Though the first impression is one of great calm and tranquillity throughout, examining closer there are visual delights: antique Chinese pots, vintage lights, gold silk curtains and Queen Anne chairs reupholstered in purple velvet!
