This high end residence in London’s South Kensington by Teresa Sapey has a lot of spark. By converting two adjacent apartments into a single residence within a 19th century mansion block, the result is a distinct and elegant scheme of lines, colours and forms whilst also maintaining the original property’s presence.

The newly-formed 667-square-meter residence, features an original Victorian layout split into two wings with the one comprising a master bedroom, dressing rooms, guest rooms and a gym while the other contains a kitchen, pantry, laundry room and two more bedrooms. Space typologies are delineated by flooring material, either marble, carpet or parquet while the mouldings, windows as well as cornices across the apartment’s ceilings remain original.

Intensifying a language of contrasts, Teresa Sapey Studio provided a gradation of differentiated colour pallets in the residence, with black and white shades dominating all the communal areas, whereas private spaces are dressed in colourful tonalities. Meanwhile, patterned tiles, fine textures, and especially the extravagant lighting designs brighten the original character of the Albert Court Apartment, enhancing its classical elements. There is a unique relationship between past, present, and future architectural styles with no style or geographical barriers. This apartment is a real light bulb moment!
