barefoot state of mind

Working with the inherited buildings, owner Bobby Dekeyser along with French architects Jean-Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet set out to breathe new life into the intimate 10-acre resort reimagined as Dedon Island. Located on the southeastern tip of Siargao in the Philippines, the property features a mere 9 freestanding villas inspired by the idea of a ‘barefoot state of mind’.

Given that Dekeyser is also the founder of the outdoor woven furniture brand Dedon, you’ll be forgiven for thinking the resort reminded you of a fabulous outdoor furniture showroom, albeit one that not only displays every piece in situ but one where you can even sleep over too.

Conceived as an “Outdoor Living Lab” for exploring and testing new concepts, techniques and prototypes, there is a woven bar, woven suspended pendants, woven columns, woven outdoor shower screens, and even in fixtures you would least expect, like woven showerheads. It is the language of the weave that champions every design detail. Aside from customised pieces, the brand’s signature collection including teardrop-shaped pods hanging from coconut trees, oversized circular daybeds and leaf-shaped poolside lounges – namely Swingrests, Nestrests, Orbit, Leaf…. are all there; it’s all about the warp and weft of the Dedon resin fibre.
