Black Beauty

I have followed and loved the projects of the Brazilian firm Jacobsen Arquitetura for some time now and this project, located in Paraty,  is no different – LOVE. Firstly, I mad for black timber cladding and I think the Brazilian design ideologies – open, airy, light – translate well to the Australian vernacular.

Jacobsen Arquitetura were given the brief to create a home that while appearing to be a single level, was actually two stories and this they achieved by creating a basement level that was raised one and a half metres to allow for light and airflow. In this lower level the architects housed the gym and home cinema with the main level containing a bedroom wing and the main living areas.

The interiors of this home are fresh and light with large doors opening the main living area onto the terrace (and literally into the pool!) while the furniture is relaxed and comfortable in shades of grey and brown with leather and timber accents.
