The Breezy Life
With a brief to create a family home that would accommodate a young, busy family and allow them to live, entertain and relax in style, Melbourne-based interior designer Sally Caroline set about creating a home that springboards from a calm foundation into fun pops of colour and spacious rooms.
Located on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, the program involved the renovation of a grand Edwardian home to better suit the family. To this end, Caroline opened up the family areas giving the owners a large and airy space that better reflected the lifestyle of the beachside location and gave the owners the perfect place for day-to-day living as well and entertaining.
The minimal, yet luxe, joinery rests easily with the original heritage details of the home with the soft grey colour building on the washed out, almost Nordic, white walls with the effect that the furniture, paired back and comfortable, becomes like a sculpture in the house. I LOVE the controlled pops of colour in the furniture – the deep indigo sofa, the gold side table; the low-slung bench – all perfect!
For life by the beach, it doesn’t get much better than this pattern.
