Hollywood Hills – Adelaide

Located in the foothills of Glen Osmond, Plane Tree House by Architects Ink has captured my eye this week. Plane Tree House uses monolithic expanses of concrete to produce a bold series of framed moments capturing the beauty of the site, with not only its view of the city, but its topography. The house is brutal and rich, tough and intensely considered, raw and refined in measured amounts.
Reminiscent of the glamorous and modernist homes of the Hollywood Hills the home offers its occupants an ever changing view sweeping down the Adelaide Plains and across to the sea in the distance. I can only imagine how spectacular it would be to watch weather roll in and change from the large picture like glazed walls!
A palette of off-form concrete for the walls and ceiling and deep burnished concrete floors are softened by billowing linen sheers and wide oak planks in other spaces.
