A Miesian moment in lakeside Japan
The experienced team of Shinichi Ogawa & Associates has recently completed this elegant lakeside house in front of a mountainous backdrop. Situated in Yamanashi, Japan, the house was designed as a family retreat for the weekend.
Its structure is based on an expansive rectangular shape with large windows from the Floor to ceiling. With obvious roots in the Farnsworth House by Mies Van Der Rohe it appears as almost a study of Modernist Design Principals – it is even home to some of the movement’s most famous furnishing. Mostly void of ornamentation, this beautiful home is all about the breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains behind.
