Avalon Beach House

With an enviable position perched high above Avalon beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this simple, yet thoughtfully designed home is the perfect response to an environmentally aware client and a company who strive to educate their clients on sustainable building.

The house, with two-bedrooms and one-bathroom, was prefabricated off-site meaning the build time was an incredibly short six weeks. The exterior of the house is clad in sustainably grown blackbutt hardwood with a green roof adding furniture installation. The orientation of the house also assists in providing the more sustainable way of life with the east-west axis aiding in cross-ventilation.

The interior of the home follows on from the exterior with clean-lines and timber being a key feature. The kitchen too has been made a feature in a bold petrol blue colour. What I love most about this house is that it is not trying to be the biggest or the best. All it wants to be is honest and it certainly achieves that.
