A fashionable interior

For the young homeowner, a French-educated fashion designer, Waterfrom Design created a colourful yet sophisticated apartment inspired by sewing patterns. Loosely translated throughout, from the braided wires in the glass bookcase to the translucent texture of the blue bookcases mimicking fabrics, Vivid Colour as the architecture firm calls this modest 100 square metre apartment is full of subtle details that constantly shifts your gaze.

A warm, floor to ceiling orange in the study luxuriates this space in a soft glow. Being adjacent to the kitchen and dining this is the perfect hue to stimulate the mind and the appetite. Contemporary lighting on the desktop by Michael Anastassiades adds a minimalist touch here and a pop of brass bling.

Semi-precious copper sheets adorn the upper cabinets in the kitchen, balanced by black below and textured white tiles refract light. These spaces are a masterclass in colour blocking, perhaps a nod to Yves Saint Laurent Mondrian colour block dress, while the custom base of the dining table references a sewing machine.

There are some lovely references throughout this apartment. The Klein Blue fronted full height perforated doors and especially the glass fronted cabinetry concealing the AV equipment references pattern making most obviously here with steel lines proving texture and interest.
