Restraint and Luxury – Melbourne
Located in the leafy Melbourne suburb of Toorak, this home has been given a fresh update through a careful and considered renovation by B.E Architects. The original portion of the house has been left intact as an anchor with the focus instead being on the addition of a roof that wraps around the building housing three pavilions – one for the garage at the front of the property and two and the rear that house a living and dining area.
These pavilions are temples of steel, glass and light with huge sliding door opening up to push the living areas into the garden. The interiors are highly edited with sharp details and lines throughout the architecture and joinery. The materials palate follows this narrative with soft timbers, rich stones and stainless steel being used to great effect to create a sobering and highly-tailored look. Subway tiles and timber clad ceiling adds subtle texture to the experience. A signature of B.E Architecture’s work, this home is the definition of restraint and luxury.
