Liveable Luxury
This 200 square metre apartment in New York’s Tribeca area by architect and interior designer Shamir Shah is a clear example of his aesthetic philosophy that draws inspiration from simple and rural constructions such as those in Africa and from the architecture of masters such as Carlo Scarpa, Richard Neutra and Louis Kahn.
The furniture, almost all belonging to the twentieth century, mixes Scandinavian chairs and French tables, American lamps and Nepalese elements to numerous pieces specially developed by Shah. Eclectic, considered and curated this chic apartment mixes retrospective yet new and contemporary lighting from Delightful with mid-century and brutalist furniture and lighting pieces so successfully.
Light and shade, classic and contemporary proportions with relaxed and refined material elements combine here to create an interior significance. Visually diverse this sophisticated home is glamorous but extremely liveable in the same breathe. I love it!
