beautifully imperfect

AnnaVasily; a handmade glass tableware brand has officially hit Australian shores with the launch of its Autumn/Winter collection. Designed by international designer from Greece Anna Papaharisi, the AnnaVasily range is available online and unlike traditional tableware is not mass-produced, with each piece carefully crafted from high-quality glass made to withstand a modern kitchen.

‘Everything in nature – the sea, hills, valleys – is naturally curved and textured; and this is how I approach design. Machines produce straight lines, I don’t want that. I want my creations to have personality, small imperfections and distinct characteristics. Not one piece is identical. I want people to pick up each plate, touch it and admire it for its feel as well as its appearance. For that exact reason AnnaVasily is consciously designed to be beautifully imperfect.’

Together with her partner Vasily Pashalis, Anna has been making luxury glass tableware for restaurants and hotels for over 12 years (operating under My Glass Studio). Their products have been used in luxury hotels and restaurants around the world from the Savoy Hotel in London through to the Ritz Paris. The launch of AnnaVasily in Australia marks the couple’s first venture outside the hospitality industry, and with sand being the core element in glassmaking, Australia’s coastal areas and beautiful beaches made it the ideal destination. Recently I enjoyed an intimate dinner with Anna and Vasily to experience dining on their exquisite handmade creations and getting to know the creatives behind the vision.
