Monochrome Simplicity
It seems monochrome is taking over yet once again, with a multitude of black and white rooms demanding attention. From the living room to the bathroom you can work this trend into any part of your home. Black and white never dates and to me it adds boldness and depth to any space. When working with a monochrome room you can have fun layering different textures and play with simple patterns. The La Pipe low chair by Friends and Founders which you can find at Fred International consists of a beautiful velvet fabric and a strong simple silhouette. There’s nothing sexier then an all black kitchen, simple bold and luxurious – don’t forget to accessories it with white ceramic home-wares to contrast against the darkness.
A simple, white colour scheme is often the go-to when choosing a bathroom, so it can be a great place to put the monochrome trend into practice. This compact bathroom pairs crisp white tapware and a beautiful stone basin with black feature tiles on the floor and wall. Even though Matt black tapware is extremely popular you will see a lot of white powder coated taps this year. Simple lines in a pattern, a silhouette of a floor lamp or even the repetition of candles is what I love in design. I guess you can call me a minimal girl but as they say less is best. Don’t be scared to have just a monochrome palette, it’s bold, classic and feels somewhat sophisticated. If you’re scared it will be too cold, sometimes, the warmth of a more traditional style allows you to be more bold when choosing your monochrome style. Follow Priscilla Elasi on Instagram
