powerful hues

The once former head office of a fashion brand, was transformed into a family home located in a 19th century Stockholm apartment and renovated by Note Design Studio. I simply adore the colour palette, bang on joinery and contemporary furniture that contrasts yet compliments the old world interior.

The colours of the tiled ovens were green, pink and a yellowish white, they decided to add some tones to the original color palette, finally ending up with an 8-tone palette that originated from the hidden traces of the old apartment. Behind a wall that was torn down to access the old piping, they found original 19th century paint on a door frame.

Note Design Studio made sure to showcase the traces of the old 19th century elements – worn wooden floors and ornaments in the form of stucco and carpentry as well as three old tiled ovens. Throughout the apartment they have made sure to keep it cohesive although some rooms are dominated by one colour, while others present an assortment of different tones. The joinery showcases veneered surfaces with crossing lines in squares taken from the most beautiful pattern in the apartment; an original parquet in one of the corner rooms. Applied with bold colours the joinery is simple, fine, yet stands out as a feature in each room.

Note Design Studio’s own furniture items are seen in the interiors throughout the apartment. From the Silo Pendant lamps to the Mango chair and also plants, framed black and white photographs and rugs. I would kill to be able to stay a night in this harmonious apartment. Once again, Note Design Studio has created an interior that moves me emotionally and gets me exceptionally excited.
