azure South Pacific

Let’s be honest here, rarely do we see South Pacific projects grace the pages of design publications or register on the design radar. Brainchild of Paris based Architect Didier Lefort and local architect Pierre-Jean Picart, with interiors fitted out by San Francisco based BAMO, the Four Seasons Bora Bora definitively raises the bar for French Polynesia.

Taking cues from the stunning locale, traditional resources and local culture, and Four Seasons design philosophy, the 220,000-sqm cream-of-the-crop property celebrates a dialogue between classic Polynesian architecture and sophisticated elegance that is Four Seasons.

Layers of woven texture, handcrafted joinery and artisan furniture over a neutral canvas of indigenous Pandanas leaves, Tahitian teak, merbau and Taha’a volcanic stone, mother-of-pearl is interesting and cultural, and yet refined. The thoughtful selection of objet d’art of bone, feather, carving, stone and tattoos add another layer to the tapestry of local flavor. All in all, it feels timeless and classy, certainly a far cry from the run-of-the-mill tropical fit-outs. Sinfully spacious bungalows over-the-water or on land are we well thought out and designed to frame Bora Bora’s killer views. Tropical living seriously never looked so good. Easily, my favourite island destination so far!
