French Connection
Having opened his firm only a year ago, the quality of this initial project by Jean Charles Tomas is all the more impressive. Following an international career, Tomas returned to Paris to complete a renovation of this apartment, which is tucked away in the chic area of Saint Sulpice on the left bank.
As a whole, the design feels very Parisian – impeccably finished, stylish yet simple and definitely beautiful. Tomas has developed a subtle masculine narrative in the furniture and fixtures which works to balance out the intricate architectural details.
Adding to this, the joinery displays his meticulous eye for detail and has a materials palate that shows the designer’s love for the handcrafted and textural. I LOVE the incredibly simple travertine shower more than any other details in the apartment!
The furniture is the perfect mix of the collected and luxe. Pierre Jeanneret chairs sit next to velvet sofas, steel framed glass doors hang above original oak floors with and all under a smoky glass Lindsay Adelman chandelier.
Given this is the first project of his solo career, I cannot wait to see what projects Tomas produces in the years to come.
