Quintessa Winery – Napa Valley

Any project that centres around drinking wine and taking in a stunning view gets a massive yes from me. The already well established Quintessa Winery in California’s Napa Valley has added to their already impressive subterranean cellar door by building three satellite private tasting rooms. With sweeping views through the trees and over the vines and estate lake, the tasting rooms are an exercise in restraint, proportion and texture.

Designed by the team at San Francisco-based firm Walker Warner Architects, the three pavilions draw on the surrounding environment of timbers and earth to create calm spaces that blend into the hillside and provide vast vista across the valley. With large glass pivoting doors and simple timber furniture, these spaces provide the perfect place to talk tannins, quaff a few glasses and soak up the Napa Valley magic.
