little summer house

The Palmar is a summer house, located in the Port of Chuburna Yucatan Mexico. With a very small footprint the house consists of one bedroom a kitchen, living area and swimming pool. Designed by David Cervera the house is located at the bottom of the land and in keeping with the local context the house is crisscrossed at the front with the backyard unused.

It is a simple scheme of three spaces looking to the north a semi-open terrace, a living area with kitchen that extends to the outside terrace that frames the palm trees and integrates with the swimming pool and the bedroom.

Chukum is an ancient technique that allows the walls to breathe and not need paint or maintenance, the swimming pool is applied in the same finish which also acts as a membrane. The floors are white polished concrete embellished with compacted mosaics to appear like rugs. This simple little getaway is proof that less is more.
