Golden Girls

The mother-daughter duo, Carola Hinojosa & Sabrina MacLean, of Miami-based firm Hinojosa Design Studio are responsible for the interiors of this light, bright and sophisticated home. Located on Fisher Island off Miami, the home is a lesson in restrained editing across many decorative eras with the result that each space is a harmonious and refined blend of styles and each with its own character.

Taking cues from the seaside location, the bright whites, low-slung chairs and comfy sofas set the tone for a relaxed home while a smattering of classics, such as the Platner armchairs in forest green velvet around the kitchen island, ensure the interiors have a considered and collected vibe.

I love any designer that can successfully mix furniture and designs from different periods and in this interior I love especially that Hinojosa and MacLean have been able to do so in a way that reflects the seaside, yet urban location of the project…they are indeed, Miami’s golden girls!
