Eclectic Mod glamour in Mayfair

Francis Sultana is a self-taught interior designer and actually didn’t start working as one until 2011. The move came as a natural and logical progression as Sultana is also the creative director of the David Gill Gallery in Mayfair, London. As creative director of the Gallery, he now works with current artists and designers to help them imagine the collectables of the future, encouraging them to stretch themselves creatively as much as possible. I would highly recommend a look through the website – it’s filled with contemporary treasures. The work that Francis pursues through the gallery inevitably informs his work in interiors which is exciting and cutting edge.
This Grade 1 listed property with classical Georgian proportions and details plays hosts to the owner’s incredible art collection as well as many of the treasures from the Gallery. Pieces by Zaha Hadid, Emilio Terry, Grayson Perry and art works by Richard Prince and Paul McCarthy to name just a few. What I love about Sultana’s work is the masterful eclectic mix of genres. Antique Klismos-esq dining chairs alongside a Post Modern Deconstructivist piece by Fredrikson Stallard. Its kooky, Mod and Classic – not an easy mix but it’s balanced and joyful here.
