Having lived in their Illinois home for seven years already, when time came to update the interiors the family decided they needed to be fresh, edgy and have sex appeal in spades and in hiring Chicago-based firm PROjECT Interiors they have achieved just that and then some.
Set deep within American suburbia, the architectural language of the house was traditional, which was retained as a canvas to build a decorative scheme that is provoking and bold. Adding to this, the designers wanted to lift the interiors by adding as much light as possible – soft grey walls, gauzing translucent window treatments and light stones create a fresh modern air in each room.
Next came the sex appeal. The furniture selected is a mix of sourced, found and collected with each piece taking on an element of luxe – leather, chrome, velvet – and the occasional pop of colour! Art too was utilised to add a layer of cool.
If ever the idea of this house was to be defined by one room then the Music Room would have to be it: grand piano, animal skins and graffitied walls… what better way to live!
