Masculine in Mexico City

This 150 square metre home in the posh Lomas de Chapultepec neighbourhood in Mexico City is the residence of Eugenio López, the owner of Jumex – the juice megabrand popular throughout the USA and Latin America.

Famed as having perhaps Latin Americas largest private art collection, this home doesn’t have your traditional Western “white box” gallery-like interior. Famed Spanish designer Luis Bustamante has resolved the interior with a rich palette of materials, adoring all surfaces with timber, stone and luxurious finishes.

In the double-height library (my favourite space), Bustamante has  installed a sculptural Hervé Van der Straeten light fixture above a large mirrored low table by Fredrikson Stallard with Vladimir Kagan wing chairs cashmere – possibly not a traditional upholstery choice in steamy Mexico city but extraordinarily chic none the less. The house feels effortless and masculine, rich, tailored and perfectly resolved.
