The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park – the crown jewel of the hotel group recently commissioned Joyce Wang for a multi-million dollar renovation of their flagship property. Located at London’s most prestigious address the property has hosted fame, fortune and royalty in its glittering history.
Wang has taken her inspiration from the building’s park-side location, specifically the different textures, forms and colours seen at ground level. Fallen acorns have served as inspiration here for custom lighting with other jewelry like detailing on custom furniture through the guestrooms.
The hotel, like many famous landmarks, is a character of its own – playing part in the “Golden age of travel” Wang has drawn inspirations from the Art Deco period but interpreted in her own contemporary industrial glamourous way.
