Chromatic tension
Situated on Boston’s famous Beacon Street this stately apartment is an exploration of colour and balance by Dee Elms of Elms Interior Design. Traditional in it proportions and architectural detailing the home is an eclectic mix of contemporary, mid-century and classical decorative elements.
Australian made lighting from Christopher Boots sits alongside New York’s Apparatus Studio and vintage Serge Mouille – all beautiful and sculptural.
The client is clearly a lover of colour. Their collection of art is where this exploration and colour discourse has begun. Accents throughout the home are punctuated with chroma rich accessories and objet, which at first might seem out of place but as your eye wanders through the frame this motif is picked up elsewhere and suddenly makes sense. For what is mostly a grey/ neutral backdrop, this residence is punctuated and lively while serene and elegant. A masterful balancing act.
