spaces revealed
Secretly hidden behind its walls, the house remained quiet for over a century. From a small house, the construction had grown overtime: two shops, a bathroom, and a few other rooms that invaded little the patio over the years.
Matteo Foresti’s first step of the project was to remove all unnecessary constructions. To get closer to the origins of the building, suddenly, the volumes got clearer. Thick stone walls were revealed, new openings generated and a new circulation between the public rooms (livingroom, kitchen, dining room) and the patio.
The first floor, where the common livingroom dominates the patio today it offers privacy and silence separation between the inside and the outside. The white walls have become the backdrop for the intense sunlight of San Vito, Italy, adding drama to the streetscape.
