Upper East Side – party of five
This family home is located close to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the New York’s uber chic Upper East Side, Manhattan. Effortlessly stylish, this family home for five occupies two floors of a Central Park facing building, with the entire second floor as a parents retreat. The ultimate in luxury.
The palette of materials is mostly neutral with swathes of natural stone – Arabescato for the benchtops in the kitchen flanked by a bronze inlay leg detail and a two story slab of travertine cascading from the master suite floor above. The roughhewn nature of the split face of the travertine against the sculptural, corkscrew like steel and timer staircase is masterfully detailed and executed. The bronze handrail is sinuous and elegant.
The decorative layer here is mostly monochromatic with a retrospective aesthetic. Work Shop APD have tastefully mixed vintage lights with some contemporary makers such as Kelly Wearstler and Oluce Atollo lamps. This is New York living done just right.
